About Us

YBMV — originally You Butterfly Me Vintage — began in 2016 as our founder Chloé's little high school side hustle, running a garage pop-up shop and hopping around markets with rails of vintage gems.

But the story started a little earlier than that.

Inspired by Chloé’s beloved granny, a true fashion icon who sadly passed away in 2012, YBMV grew from a lifelong love of fashion, individuality and the belief that you don’t have to look like everyone else. That same spirit still runs through everything we do today — encouraging you to find pieces that feel like you and give you the confidence to stand out.

In 2020, Gary joined the journey, and that same year we found our weekend home at The Neighbourgoods Market at The Old Biscuit Mill, where our community continued to grow.

What started as one girl’s love for fashion has since grown into YBMV Collective — a curated space bringing together vintage, pre-loved, handmade and new pieces, alongside a growing collective of creative makers and artists.

OUR HOME IN OBSERVATORY

In Feb 2025, we opened the doors to our very first permanent store at 285b Lower Main Road, Observatory.

Obs felt like a natural fit for YBMV — a creative, colourful and individual neighbourhood where independent businesses, artists, makers and people with their own sense of style come together.

Our store gives us a space to bring the full YBMV experience to life beyond the markets: rails of carefully curated pieces, handmade finds, artwork, accessories and little treasures that you might not know you were looking for until you find them.

You’ll still find us every weekend at The Neighbourgoods Market, while our Observatory store gives our community a place to visit throughout the week.

Because for us, YBMV has always been about more than just clothing — it’s about creativity, community, individuality and finding pieces that give you butterflies everywhere you go. 🦋
